Surrounded by mountains, Hita is blessed by and known for an abundance of high-quality water. Therefore Hita is called as “Town of Water”. Along the banks of the Mikumagawa River, which flows through the middle of the city, there are several hot spring inns, and at dusk, houseboats offer visitors a chance to enjoy a meal while cruising the river.

The boats are outfitted depending on the season, so you can enjoy different cuisine and scenery no matter what time of year you visit. You can reserve a meal on a houseboat via the Hita Tourism Association or one of the five inns that operate boats (Caffel Hina no Sato, Kizantei Hotel, Yorozuya, Mikuma Hotel or Kizan Club).
