Mention kurobuta pork, and the first place that comes to mind is Kagoshima; that is how well known the Kagoshima Kurobuta brand of pork is in Japan.

Kagoshima Kurobuta is characterized by its tender texture, firm and juicy meat, sweet flavor, and fat that is refreshingly non-greasy. Kurobuta Berkshire pigs, which have been cultivated by making gradual improvements to the breed over the years, are fed with a feed containing sweet potatoes, a specialty of Kagoshima, for more than 60 days. The best way to enjoy the true taste of kurobuta is in shabu-shabu or tonkatsu (fried cutlet).
